Detailed Description
Created in the Highlands of Tequila known as Los Altos, El Espolon Añejo is handcrafted from piñas slow-roasted for 18 to 20 hours at the San Nicolas distillery. Rock music is played during the production process to “inspire” the agave. Aged for 10 months in new American oak and finished maturing in used Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels for two additional months. Try this in an Old Fashioned cocktail for a modern spin on a classic cocktail.
Espolon Anejo Tequila Tasting Notes
Nose: A complex bouquet, slightly vegetal, with cut grass and asparagus, along with butterscotch, vanilla and roasted agave.
Palate: On the palate, this is a lively tequila with a big burst of black pepper and agave, baking spices, cinnamon and a hint of mango.
Finish: A lightly floral note, honeysuckle and orchids appears next before ending with honey, bay leaf and a cool menthol note.
Distillery Information
The San Nicolas Distillery was founded in 1998 with distillery facilities show the ancient Mexican cultural environment, mixed with the most modern and advanced production technology. In 2009, Gruppo Campari purchased the Espolon brand, along with the San Nicolas Distillery where it is made. After a 3 year hiatus in the US, Espolon is reintroduced with the same award-winning liquid and updated packaging heralding the true history of Mexico.
