After the success of Michter’s US*1 Single Barrel Straight Rye, they have added a cask-strength version. This bottling is big and toasty, with notes of vanilla, caramel, and the spiciness one expects from rye whiskey.
Michter’s Limited Release US*1 Barrel Strength Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey Tasting Notes
Nose: Aroma of butterscotch, golden raisins and vanilla.
Palate: Bursting with morning toast, maple syrup and fresh fruit.
Finish: Spicy, with noticeable touches of mint, cinnamon and honey which linger on the tongue.
Distillery Information
Bomberger’s Distillery, more recently Michter’s Distillery, is a non-operating distillery facility that was, at the end of the twentieth century, believed to be the oldest remaining such building in the United States. The distillery closed in 1989 and may have since been demolished.
